SANCHEZ TO MISS FA CLASH WITH SOUTHAMPTON

Alexis Sanchez is set to miss the game against Southampton when Arsenal face them this weekend in the FA Cup fourth round.

The coach Arsene Wenger is likely to stick with his squad rotation policy which would see the Chile international sit on the bench during the tricky fixture.

Sanchez would not be happy with missing out but the French tactician would play Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck ahead of the rest of the team as Arsenal hope to get pass the Saints. Lucas Perez is another likely option.

German playmaker Mesut Ozil could likely not feature in the clash but Sanchez would surely throw tantrums if he misses the game on the sidelines. The passionate player was inconsolable when he was pulled out in the clash against Swansea recently despite the team leading 4-0.

Arsenal Should Not Yield to Ozil and Sanchez Demands, Says Gary Neville

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville reckons that Arsenal should not be held to a ransom in their efforts to keep Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Both players have less than 18 months remaining on their contracts.

There is interest from Manchester United in Mesut Ozil, while Sanchez has been linked with an incredible offer from the Chinese super league. Neville says that it is vital that Arsenal do everything in their powers to keep the players, but he reckons that it should not come at the cost of destroying the philosophies and believes that the club has acquired over the years.

It is reported that both players are demanding wages in the region of £ 300,000 per week, while Arsenal are unwilling to meet the combined figure of £ 600,000 per week for both players. The gunners currently have Ozil on a contract worth £ 120,000 per week and they are likely to extend it only to as far as £ 180,000 a week.

Arsenal Can’t Just Rely on Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal’s battle to win the Premier League title has come slightly off the rails over the past month with back-to-back defeats to Everton and Manchester City. They were even forced to come from three goals down to salvage a point away to Bournemouth to keep themselves in the mix.

The Gunners are following the trend that has dogged them over the past 13 years in their pursuit of securing another top-flight crown. Since last lifting the title in the 2003-04 campaign, Arsene Wenger’s men have hit the self-destruct button several times in the second halves of seasons, including last term, when they lost out to Leicester City.

Arsenal will Always Be Above Tottenham, Says Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger says that he is not worried about Tottenham catching Arsenal, as he believes that the gunners will always be bigger than their North London rivals.

Spurs have been making a lot of noises about catching Arsenal, who are regarded as a far bigger outfit then Spurs due to their recent successes. Arsenal have won the league title several times since the start of the Premier league, while Spurs were last successful several decades ago. Purely in terms of trophies, Arsenal are far bigger than Tottenham but there is always a fierce competition between the two clubs.

As a testament to this fact, Spurs are now building a 61,000 seater stadium in tune with the Emirates stadium. Arsenal managed to construct the Emirates stadium as one of the finest pieces of architecture in the Premier League. One of the modern stadiums in England, it has helped Arsenal elevate to a new level with an improved finances allowing them to sign players like Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez without the backing of a rich benefactor.

Spurs have been able to achieve much of their success in the last couple of years under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino. However, they have never finished above Arsenal in the league table over the last two decades.

Wenger reckons that it may not happen at least in his tenure.”I do not think about Tottenham ever becoming a bigger club than Arsenal. I think about Arsenal and making us as big as possible, making us stronger. We have a strong fan base, maybe the strongest in London, and as long as we do our job Arsenal will always be the stronger. No position is guaranteed. It is about doing our job, but at the end of the day everything is decided by what happens on the pitch,” said Wenger.

ARSENAL HIT BACK AT WERDER BREMEN

Werder Bremen trolled Arsenal after a former Gunner, Serge Gnabry grabbed a hat trick when Germany humbled San Marino 8-0.

The ex-Arsenal player left the English club for his native country this summer after he failed to break into the first team at the Emirates. Gnabry enjoyed a decent tournament when he represented Germany at the 2016 Rio summer Olympics, and was on target when he featured in the game against San Marino in a World Cup qualifying game.

Werder Bremen threw a dig at Arsenal using their official Twitter handle. The tweet showed that Gnabry played his debut, scored a hat trick in Germany’s 8-0 win, and they tagged Arsenal in it with a winking emoticon.

Arsenal hit back just over an hour, tweeting “on the subject of hat tricks, remember this?” the tweet was accompanied by a picture of Ray Parlour jubilating after his hat trick in the UEFA Cup game against Werder Bremen 16 years ago. Parlour’s spectacular goals in 2000 helped Arsenal defeat Bremen. He scored an amazing goal using the outside of his boot, and he went pass three defenders to get another goal. His goals helped Arsene Wenger’s men to the semi finals.

Gnabry has been decent for the Bundesliga outfit since his £5 million move. He has scored four goals in nine games this term, but it has not been enough as Bremen lie 16th in the German Bundesliga standings. The youngster received enormous commendations after his impressive show against Marino.

Whilst at Arsenal, he could only get one goal after 18 games. His goals against Marino make him the first German to score a hat trick on his debut since Dieter Muller did far back in 1976.

Arsenal lucky to win

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his team was a bit fortunate to win the game at Burnley.

Despite being dominant and having the most possession, the Gunners fail to score and were frustrated throughout the whole match. It is only in the dying seconds of the game that Koscielny managed to score a goal that is marred by controversy. Not only the goal appeared to be scored with the hand, but the French defender also appears to be offside as well.

Arsene Wenger stated that his team might have been lucky to win the game against Burnley. The French manager said that he has not seen the goal yet but believes that his team has been lucky if they have scored this kind of goal.

Arsenal was frustrated with a superb defensive display by Burnley, and they were denied the necessary space at the back. Wenger believes that his team was also a bit tired after playing 3 games in 8 days and that this was evident on the pitch.

Shkodran Mustafi says he follows everything Islam says

Shkodran Mustafi says he follows everything Islam says and he would make sure none of his acts ever go against the principles of Islam.

At his previous club in Spain, Mustafi had shown how hard core an Islamic person he is when he had refused to give an interview to the media just because a liquor container was kept on the table in the media hall.

The liquor brand was one of the sponsors of that Spanish club and as per their agreement, a container had to be displayed in all the press conferences, but, it’s something which Islam strictly prohibits, the use of liquor.

So, Mustafi, out of respect for his religion, pulled out. However, he had to do the press conference later as the club could not breach the agreement it had with its sponsor already and that he was told.

Remembering it, the young defender said, “It wasn’t that anyone was displeased about it. They knew why I was not willing to sit at that place. There was no way out eventually and it was not removed, but, I received an apology from Valencia authorities and from the sponsors as well.”

Xhaka admits nervousness

Arsenal new midfielder Granit Xhaka has revealed that he was quite nervous to be playing for Arsenal. He said that the first few days at the club were overwhelming for him as it was quite a change from what he was used to.

The Gunners paid more than £30m for the club, but the Switzerland international said that it was not the price tag the problem but rather the quality of the players around him.

He stated that he was not used to be playing with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Santi Cazorla and this is definitely a step up from what he has been used. Xhaka said that Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world and it is normal that they have such players there. It has always been a tradition at Arsenal to have the best players such as Thierry Henry, Bergkamp, and Patrick Viera and this is likely to follow.

He said that Ozil and Sanchez are pure world class players, and this can be seen by the way they trained and controlled the ball. He admits that he will learn a lot from these players and that he is looking to progress by training with such players.
