ARSENAL EYEING THIRD WIN AGAINST VILLA

Arsenal are eyeing their third straight win against Aston Villa ahead of their latest meeting in the Premier League. The two teams meet at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night with Arsenal looking to make it five straight league wins at the start of this season at the expense of Aston Villa.

Former European champions Aston Villa are in their fourth season in the Premier League following their promotion from the English Championship in 2019 under the guidance of manager Dean Smith. Smith was sacked last season and replaced by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard in the Villa dugout.In their first meeting on the back of the above mentioned promotion, Arsenal came from behind to beat Villa 3-2 at home. Villa would go on to win the next three league meetings between the two teams. The fixture then turned in the favour of Arsenal with two wins from two league meetings last season.

LEICESTER CITY REPORTEDLY EYEING NICOLAS PEPE AS POSSIBLE SUMMER SIGNING

According to Foot Mercato, Premier League club Leicester City are interested in Nicolas Pepe, as Brendan Rodgers eyes late reinforcements to his attacking setup. The Ivorian winger has been made available and is inching closer to signing for French side OGC Nice. Nicolas Pepe is unwanted at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta disinterested in selecting him as a starter. The Ivorian has not started a Premier League game since the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in October 2021, and the club are open to offers.

OGC Nice are reportedly closing in on signing the winger on loan from Arsenal without a buy option. While the talks have progressed smoothly, and the Gunners are reportedly open to doing a deal with the French side, the transfer has not been completed yet. There could be a snag somewhere, possibly due to the player’s lofty wages, which Nice may not be able to pay in full. The impasse has allowed another team to enter the chase, with Leicester City reportedly keen on signing the Ivorian winger from Arsenal.

Arsenal defender Pablo Mari is a top target for Turkish Super League side Fenerbahce in the current transfer window. This is as per the latest reports in the media. Spanish centre back Mari is not in the plans of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and he’s available for a transfer. He has been strongly linked with Fenerbahce in recent days. Media outlet.

The Sun claimed that Mari is one of seven players on the transfer list at Arsenal. Mari iscurrently behind Rob Holding, Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. The Spaniard is the fifth-choice centre back at Arsenal. He spent the second half of last season at Udinese. Mari impressed during his time at the Italian Serie A club, but the move was not turned into a permanent transfer. He has featured in four of the Gunners’ six pre-season friendly games. The Spanish player made an appearance in each of the first four pre-season friendly games for the Gunners this summer. However, he has not played in the last two Arsenal games in pre-season football this summer.

North London giants Arsenal still have a perfect pre-season record after their Florida Cup final encounter with Premier League rivals Chelsea on Saturday night. The Gunners made it five wins from five matches with the big victory over Chelsea.

Arsenal started their pre-season schedule this summer with an emphatic victory over fellow English team Ipswich Town thanks mainly due to the treble from former England junior international Eddie Nketiah.Nketiah scored a hat-trick in the first half on the way to a 5-1 win over League One club Ipswich Town. Albert-SambiLokonga also scored for the Gunners in the first half, while young striker Folarin Balogun scored the fifth and final Arsenal goal as a second half substitute.

ARSENAL SECURE SECOND SUMMER SIGNING

Arsenal have made their second signing of the summer with the arrival of Fabio Vieira from Portuguese champions FC Porto. The signing of the Portuguese midfielder was sealed by the Gunners earlier on Tuesday via the official announcement made on their various social media outlets.

The transfer fee associated with the Fabio Vieira to Arsenal move could be up to €40m. In an official statement from FC Porto on Friday, it was revealed that the Gunners will pay an initial fee of €35m plus €5 in add-ons.

ARSENAL LOSE TWO SUCCESSIVE LEAGUE GAMES

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and his players have now lost their last two games in the Premier League thus hurting their chances of finishing in the Champions League places. Only the first four teams in the Premier League will secure passage into the Champions League ahead of next season.

Arteta and his players were in fourth spot before the start of their current two-game losing run. Son added a third goal at the start of the second half to seal the win for Spurs thus moving them within one point of their opponents.

WEST HAM BATTLING DORTMUND FOR ARSENAL-OWNED STAR

Football London have reported that both West Ham and Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing Konstantinos Mavropanos. The Arsenal star is expected to complete a permanent move to Stuttgart, before being sold again. Mavropanos, 22, has been on loan at Stuttgart for the past two seasons. A couple of injuries limited the Greece star to just 22 outings last term – but this season he has already played 30 times, scoring an impressive five goals.

The loan comes to an end this summer, but Stuttgart have the option to sign him for £2.5million; that is expected to happen, as per Football London. However, Stuttgart are now expected to sell him on and make a big profit. In what could be a loss to Arsenal, BILD claim Stuttgart rate him in the region of £21million. A new report from Football London states that West Ham and Dortmund are among those interested, ahead of the summer.

ARSENAL COULD FINALLY LAND THEIR LONG-TERM TARGET THIS SUMMER

Arsenal have received a major boost in their attempts to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan. The Argentine is one of several strikers being courted by the Gunners after Mikel Arteta’s personal request. Arsenal could be about to land Martinez at a bargain price as his time at Inter Milan could be drawing to a close. The striker is one of the top options being scouted by the Gunners.

Manager Arteta is desperate to sign a striker this summer after making the position a priority in the transfer window. After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left in January, it has left Arsenal bereft of options up front.
