Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce names that the club will make a decision on the future of defender Emmanuel Eboue when the club returns from a short-term training camp in the Middle East.
The former Arsenal defender has been training with the Wearside club in the last few weeks after having left Turkish outfit Galatasaray last summer.
He is a free agent and has been struggling to find a club. Being an experienced Premier League professional, Eboue will be of huge value to Sunderland in the fight against relegation. The big question mark over the player will be his fitness levels. He has not played any competitive football in more than six months and it remains to be seen if he can recover it at 32 years of age.
Allardyce has managed to bring about a decent improvement in results since taking over the club a few months ago. The club are still in a relegation fight and are only above the drop zone based on goal difference. Before Allardyce took over, there were reports that fans were stopping watching the football at the Stadium of Light, and many would play casino games thru mobile with promo code instead!? Their play has improved somewhat since then, but they still need to rack up more than just the six victories that they have in the 2015-16 league season.
Eboue was at Arsenal for six years before joining Galatasaray in 2011 for £ 3 million. He has played more than 100 league matches in England.
“By next week we’ll take a view and give a him a decision. It was about getting him fit, because he hadn’t played for so long. We didn’t take him to Dubai with us because he could do more here, morning and afternoon sessions with the fitness coaches while the lads were only doing morning sessions out in the heat of Dubai. We’ll play him in a game behind-closed-doors next week and then make a decision from there, but if he is fit enough he is going to be good enough,” said Allardyce.
