Wenger blame lack of fans support

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has blamed the poor atmosphere at home for the failed title challenge this season. He believes that Arsenal form has been impressive away from home, and it is at home that the club has failed to take maximum points.

According to him, it is the toxic atmosphere at home matches that has caused Arsenal to lose points against some of the smaller teams. He said that at a crucial stage of the season the team has been playing in a very difficult atmosphere, and this has not really helped the team at all.

Arsene Wenger apologize to Arsenal Fans

Arsene Wenger says that he feels sorry for not having given 100% satisfaction to every supporter of Arsenal.

The fans staged a protest against the regime of Wenger, which has failed to yield a league title in the last decade. Even though there have been two FA Cup trophies during this period, it is not seen as a recognition of the club’s stature. Arsenal are primarily judged upon their ability to win major honours like the Premier League and challenge in the Champions League. However, both these aspects have not happened since 2003-04 and this has led to fans calling for his departure.

The protests inside the stadium were held at the 12^th minute as a symbolic gesture that the club has now gone 12 seasons without winning the league title. Even as there was dissent amongst some supporters, there was praise for Wenger in various quarters of the stadium. Prior to the match, the Frenchman claimed that he committed to Arsenal during a difficult financial times even when there were offers from several other clubs. His commitment to stay was revealed as the reason behind banks offering the club almost £ 400 million in loan to construct the Emirates stadium, which has been a major source of revenue for the club in the last five years.

Mesut Ozil still remains confident that Arsenal will be able to win the league title this season.

This, however, changed abruptly in the second half when Arsenal have fallen way behind leaders Leicester City. Many expected Leicester’s challenge to falter after a few months in the top, but this has not been the case. Claudio Ranieri’s men have been equally consistent in every part of the campaign.

As a result, the unlikely team from Leicester find themselves with a five-point advantage over second placed Tottenham with only seven matches left in the season. Arsenal are a further four points behind in the title race. Even then, Ozil says that the club remain aware that they should take advantage of any points dropped by their rivals. This has been a fantastic season on a personal level for the German midfielder. He is on course to creating a new record of assists in the Premier League. Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry holds the record for making 20 assists in a campaign while Ozil is only two short of this figure.

EBOUE SET FOR SUNDERLAND?

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce names that the club will make a decision on the future of defender Emmanuel Eboue when the club returns from a short-term training camp in the Middle East.

FA Cup must be Arsene’s priority

After making it through to the quarter-final of the FA Cup courtesy of a 4-0 victory in a replay away to Hull City, Arsenal remain on course to defend the trophy once again. They have the hope of winning the cup for the third consecutive year, something which has not been done in this tournament since Blackburn Rovers in 1886.

Arsenal have recently dropped points in games against Manchester United, Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League which means they are at the time of writing eight points behind leaders Leicester in the table and three adrift of North London rivals Spurs.

Paul Merson has come down hard on Arsene Wenger

Paul Merson has come down hard on Arsene Wenger saying that he has got to win the Premiership at any cost to earn the right to stay in his job.

According to Merson, in case the Gunners fail to become the Champions, it would be hard for Wenger to make a justification to the supporters as to why he didn’t go for the new signings at all last summer.

Merson is also of the opinion that it’s no big deal for a manager to guide Arsenal to top 4 as the squad is good enough to do it itself. There is no astuteness on the part of Wenger in making that happen.

Speaking on television, the Englishman, who played for the Gunners for a long time, from the mid eighties to the late nineties, said, “Arsene Wenger shouldn’t remain in charge if the weaker rivals beat Arsenal to the title.”

“I mean ahead of the season, you come and say there are no signings needed and then, you can’t go past a couple of weaker oppositions to the title. You would just not be able to justify that.”

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan says that he has not yet made a decision on his future, which has raised speculation that he could leave the club when his contract expires in 2017.
