ARSENAL TARGET EXPECTED TO SIGN A NEW DEAL IN COMING DAYS

It was reported some days ago that English Premier League side Arsenal were interested in signing a striker and that they had set their sights on striking a deal with Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan for the signing of their forward Lautaro Martinez. The Argentina international striker has been linked with an exit from the San Siro amid reports that the club are currently in a financial crisis and need to sell players to raise funds and avoid going into liquidation. The Italian Serie A Champions have already sanctioned the sale of star striker Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea and were also said to be willing to listen to offers for Martinez but that seems to have changed

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has revealed that he expects Martinez to sign a new contract extension at the club despite reports strongly suggesting otherwise. Martinez and Lukaku formed a great strike partnership last season for Inter as they went on to fire the club to a first Serie A title in so many years. However, they will be playing for different clubs this season as Lukaku has already all but sealed his transfer to England; a return to Stamford Bridge.

ARSENAL MUST PAY £32M FOR RAMSDALE

Arsenal have made Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale their number one target this summer in their bid to sign a goalkeeper and they have been told to pay £32m for him. English publication The Times revealed that the Gunners have been quoted £32m as the transfer fee required to prise the shot stopper away from his club.

The Gunners are reluctant to pay the said fee for Ramsdale who only moved to Sheffield United last summer. The Blades paid £18.5m to secure his transfer from Bournemouth shortly after they suffered demotion from the English top flight.

NEWCASTLE STILL HOPEFUL OF SIGNING ARSENAL YOUNGSTER

Newcastle United have continued to push forward in their attempts to convince Arsenal in letting go of their youngster Joe Willock this summer. The 21-year-old spent last season at St James’ Park and had an excellent campaign as he was in the form of his life for the Tyneside club. Willock was in such great form that he ended the last Premier League season by scoring in seven consecutive games, setting a record, and also doing so while playing most of the games coming on as a second-half substitute.

Newcastle fancy the player a lot and have promised him a lot of game time if he signs for them, something Arsenal may not be able to promise him at the moment. Although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has vowed to put a lot of faith and belief in younger players at the club, it is still a huge doubt that Willock will have an in portent role to play at the Emirates Stadium next season and it is also one of the huge factors that are going to influence the 21-year-old’s decision in the coming days.

ARSENAL DEFENDER TO MISS OLYMPICS WITH FRANCE

The highly anticipated Tokyo Olympics has continued to draw nearer gradually and the participating countries have already started preparing for the tournament by sending call-plus and invitations to the players they want to represent them at the 2020 edition of the tournament which will hold later this year. The Tokyo 2020 Olympics was originally scheduled to hold last year but was moved to this year following the huge impact made by the outburst of the coronavirus pandemic especially during the beginning of last year.

Alongside Brazil, France has been one of the countries to have been working tentatively to make sure that a list of the players they want to have at the Olympics is ready very soon and according to reports, Arsenal’s French defender William Saliba is set to miss the Olympics as his club want him to report for pre-season duties later this month. Saliva was signed by Mikel Arteta for Arsenal last summer but was loaned out to get some minutes under his belt as he was not able to cement his position as a regular starter at the club since completing his transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal have been told by Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid that if they want to get midfielder Martin Odegaard, they should be prepared to let go of Emile Smith-Rowe in return, according to reports coming from various sources. Odegaard’s fantastic season at Arsenal last season has made the London club establish a serious interest in signing the Norwegian international midfielder on a permanent basis. Their quest to sign the 23-year-old has made them open talks with Madrid over a possible transfer since before the end of the last season, but both clubs have not been able to reach an agreement.

EVERTON QUARTET BACK FOR ARSENAL CLASH
